Comhaltacht Draiocht Customs

 

It is our custom that membership in Comhaltacht Draiocht is available to anyone of our faith who formally requests to be included in our membership role so long as that individual is ethically and spiritually in accord with the identity of Comhaltacht Draiocht. Membership is considered perpetual.

 

It is our custom that the affairs of Comhaltacht Draiocht be managed by two councils. Issues of membership, establishment of local congregations and administrative training will be under the authority of the Comhairle Cheannais, being made up of the assembled single administrative representatives of each local congregation.  Issues of religion, religious education, ordination of clergy, the establishment of religious orders and attendance at sacrifice will be under the authority of the Comhairle Dhraoithe, being made up of the assembled single clergy representative from each local congregation and all active ordained clergy of Comhaltacht Draiocht.

 

It is our custom that Comhaltacht Draiocht officially recognizes four Celtic holy days in our ritual year starting with our ritual New-Year Samhain dated on the midpoint between autumnal equinox and the following winter solstice, including Imbolg dated on the midpoint between winter solstice and the following vernal equinox, and Bealtienne dated on the midpoint between vernal equinox and the following summer solstice, and Lughnasadh dated on the mid point between summer solstice and the following autumnal equinox and concluding in conjunction with the following Samhain.

 

It is our custom that the Comhairle Dhraoithe arrange for the performance of a public organization rite in the name of Comhaltacht Draiocht on or near the date of each recognized holy day and that each Pobal {local congregation} will at, minimum, celebrate our four holy days on or near the official date.

 

It is our custom that any charter being issued in the name of Comhaltacht Draiocht or any of it’s chartered bodies or authorities contain a clear name for the body or office holding the charter, a clear identity for the office or body holding the charter and a clear mission statement to designate the activities of the office or body holding the charter and that the name, identity and mission all be in accordance with the central identity, mission and customs of Comhaltacht Draiocht.

 

It is our custom that the central customs of Comhaltacht Draiocht take precedence over all other customs within Comhaltacht Draiocht and that the customs of a chartering body shall take precedence over the customs of the body being chartered. Any group, body, organization or office chartered within Comhaltacht Draiocht shall be chartered with a set of customs and all subsequent additions or alterations to the chartered customs shall be reported to the chartering authority.
