Silent
Samhain
This rite was performed in
verbal silence with each step conducted without spoken word. The only section that was not silent was the calling of the role
of the dead. The sounds heard were the sounds of the fire, wind the land around us and a single steady pulsing drim beat which
stopped when the old fire was extinquished and resumed when the new fire was started. When the role of the dead was called
all that was said was the name of the honored deceased and in this way the rite was very moving.
The Firepriest lights the old
year's fire.
The Filid makes an invitation
to the Tribal Patron Goddess:
The processional is led
by the Filid and Sacrificer to the sound of slow steady drumming.
The Drui makes an opening prayer.
The Tribal Chieftainess stands
in the center a blesses the area from the center to the edge.
The Sacrificer dowses the old fire.
In darkness an offering is
carried out of the ritual area and thrown beyond as a gift to Crom Dubh.
The Firepriest will light new
year's fire & make a silent calling of Daigre.
The Drui will make an invitation
to the Gods.
The Fili will make an invitation
to the ancestors.
Calling of the role of the
dead.
Lighting of votives for
people to receive the fire of the tribe
Silent Sacrifices & Offerings
Divination is taken by the
